Grief humor…
Grief is weird. It can knock you flat one minute and then, somehow, make you laugh the next. I still remember someone asking me very early on if I had thought about “channeling my grief into yoga.” I hadn’t showered in a week and was eating a saltines over the sink as my only meal of the day. I remember I said something like, “Right after I start breathing with intention and stop primal screaming in the shower.” It was sarcastic and dark. And it made me laugh. The person looked at me and I don’t know if they knew what to think. But somehow that weird humor helped me a little. If you’ve ever laughed at something you think you shouldn’t have or found comfort in a meme that made you snort, you aren’t alone. Sometimes laughter is the release that gets helps us get through.
A little dark humor for anyone who wants to read more.
