Week of 6/1/26

When we think about grief, we often think about emotions like sadness, anger, guilt, longing, or loneliness. But grief is not just emotional. It can live in the body, too. Grief can feel like exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix. A heaviness in the chest. Tightness in the throat. Brain fog. Headaches. Trouble sleeping. An upset stomach. A clenched jaw. Aching shoulders. Restlessness. Numbness. Sometimes it feels like your body is carrying something your words cannot fully explain. Many people are surprised by the physical ways grief shows up. This side of grief can feel unexpected, and sometimes isolating. But it is very common. What physical symptoms have you been experiencing?

Watch Megan Devine talk about this topic: It’s not just in your head, Grief is in our body too.

A fantastic morning learning a new skill and practicing self-care together. Our cardinal wool felting class at The Felted Bee gave everyone space to create, connect and bring home their own cardinal. I think I have a new hobby! A virtual workshop will definitely be on the books soon so no matter where you are, you can give it a try!

The Sun Will Rise’s Director Leslie Lagos attended MOAR’s ( Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery) Southeast Policy Forum at Taunton Public Library. Take a look at some of the initiatives that they are supporting here!

The Taunton MA Community Meal was a wonderful success! Spreading the word about the free support services in the Community! Big thanks to Gary & Tracy Carter & the Elks Drug Awareness Program for donating the pair of children’s bike’s for the raffle! And Marci McDonough for knitting up another blanket! Next up The Gloucester MA Community Meal this Thursday! Stop bye and say hi, meet the resources in this area and grab a bite to eat!
