The Sun Will Rise Weekly Update
Week of November 3, 2024
Hello Friends,
This week we have four in-person regular groups, one in-person specialty group, two regular zoom groups, one specialty zoom group, one special in-person event and one virtual workshop. Login and location information follow at the bottom of this newsletter.
HOLIDAY SUPPORT
We're holding our Thanksgiving grief support group earlier this year on 11/17/24, because we know that the holiday season can be especially challenging. Grief can feel sharper when it seems like the world is celebrating and that contrast often brings up feelings of loneliness or stress. Meeting together before the holiday allows us to talk openly about these feelings, plan ahead, and connect with others who truly understand.
This group will give everyone a space to share, prepare, and support each other whether that’s about managing family gatherings, honoring loved ones or just finding a bit of peace. You don’t have to navigate these days alone. Read some tips for navigating this holiday.
The zoom link will be provided in the next newsletter.
~ With care

3. SADOD’S PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP~ MINDFULNESS IN GRIEF. Tuesday November 26, 2024 6:30-8:00 pm ET The number of emotions that we experience when we are grieving the death of somebody we care about can be overwhelming. We are often told to “not think about it” or “let go,” which are much easier said than done. In comes Mindfulness- a practice in which we lean inwards and pay non-judgmental attention to our thoughts, feelings, the surrounding environment, and more. By doing the opposite of “not thinking about it,” we may disarm the hold that these thoughts and feelings have on us.Join in for a discussion on the beneficial role that Mindfulness can play in our grief journeys. You will discuss tips for getting started and engage in some introductory Mindfulness practices during the workshop. This workshop will take place virtually on Zoom. Learn more and register at bit.ly/mindfulness-grief-workshop. Please note this workshop has a $10 fee for individuals outside of Massachusetts. Massachusetts residents may attend this workshop for free due to funding from MA-BSAS by using promo code MASS at the time of registration. If cost is an issue, please contact Laura@sadod.org
