Connection Through Ritual

  • Christ's Church 12 Quincy Avenue Quincy, MA, 02169 United States (map)

REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Since the beginning of civilization, ritual has withstood the test of time as a medium for marking shifts and changes in our environments and lives. We experience rituals in celebration, loss and so much more. Ritual serves to connect: to self, to community, nature, beliefs & culture, and can be a practice of connection to our loved ones who have passed.

In our time together you will learn the multicultural roots of different earth altar rituals, offered here as a practice in ritual for grief, remembrance or celebration! An earth altar is a temporary piece of art, mostly created from materials found in nature. The practice of building an earth altar incorporates intention, mindfulness, patterns and balance, beauty and nature- all of which can be helpful on a grief journey. This can be a lovely way to recognize something such as an anniversary or birthday, incorporate it into a memorial or remembrance ceremony, or pause to mark something on your own journey.

We will open and close our space together with a collective ritual. You will have an opportunity to build your own beautiful temporary earth altar made of dried and fresh flowers, crystals and other natural elements. Supplies will be provided- AND it is most definitely welcome and encouraged to bring any items that resonate with you, that are maybe connected to your person(s) - photos, mementos, etc.

No art or meditation experience needed

A community earth altar will also be available to participate in building for those who might not want to make their own

Workshop hosted by Jill Shanahan & Kristin Doneski of Wild Grief Offerings
